The price of a certified translation depends on the length, format, and type of document. Quotes are free and non-binding — simply send a scan of your document. I provide quotes on the same day.
Do I need to bring the original document, or is a scan enough?
A scan or photo of the document sent by e-mail or WhatsApp is sufficient for both the quote and the translation itself. If the translation is based on the original, the original must be presented upon collection in Warsaw. If the translation is based on a copy (scan, photocopy), I can deliver the finished translation electronically as a PDF with a qualified electronic signature.
What is the difference between a translation "based on the original" and "based on a copy"?
Every certified translation must state whether it was prepared on the basis of an original or a copy. As a rule, an original is a document such as a university diploma, a medical certificate, the original of a notarial deed, or an original contract. A copy is an exact reproduction of the original document (e.g. a photocopy, scan, or printout of an electronic document).
If the translation is based on an original, the original must be presented to the translator. In practice, scans or photos are sufficient for me to carry out the translation — the original document only needs to be presented upon collection.
If the translation is based on a copy, I always attach a printout of the source document to the translation.
How long does a certified translation take?
The standard turnaround time is 1–3 business days, depending on the length and type of document.
In urgent cases, I offer express service — delivery on the same or next business day, subject to prior arrangement.
How can I receive my translation?
The translation can be collected in person in Warsaw or delivered electronically as a PDF with a qualified electronic signature.
How many copies of the translation will I receive?
The translation is issued in one copy. Additional copies can be prepared at the client's request for an extra fee.
If the translation is based on an original, do I need to leave it during the translation process?
No. Scans or clear photos of the document are sufficient for me to carry out the translation. However, the original must be presented upon collection. Otherwise, the translation will be marked as having been prepared on the basis of a copy.
Can the translation be bound together with the original?
This is not required, but at the client's request, the translation can be bound together with the original document.
Are certified translations accepted abroad?
Yes. Certified translations prepared by a translator registered with the Polish Ministry of Justice are accepted by government authorities, courts, and institutions across the EU and in many other countries, including the USA, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. In some cases, additional legalisation by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be required — this is known as an apostille.
What is the difference between a certified and a standard translation?
A certified (sworn) translation bears the stamp and signature of a translator registered with the Polish Ministry of Justice. Only this type of translation is accepted by authorities, courts, and institutions that require an official confirmation of the translation. A standard translation does not carry these attributes and is used for informational or business purposes.
What if the document to be translated is multilingual?
If the document is multilingual, the translation will cover only the sections in English, French, or Polish. The remaining sections will be omitted or reproduced as agreed.
Can a certified translation cover only part of a document?
As a rule, a certified translation covers the entire document. However, in some cases it is possible to translate only selected pages or sections — this depends on the type of document and the purpose of the translation. The translation will always clearly state which part of the document has been translated. What does a certified translator do during a notary appointment?
The translator's main task during notarial proceedings is to provide a live oral translation of the notarial deed being executed. In my experience, the notary also frequently explains the relevant legal provisions, clarifies any doubts, or agrees on amendments with the client — and I assist with those as well.
Can a certified translation be prepared and signed electronically?
Yes. I hold a qualified electronic signature for signing certified translations, which has the same legal force as a handwritten signature throughout the European Union. However, it should be noted that at present, electronic signatures are primarily useful for translations used in cross-border transactions. Many Polish authorities still do not accept electronically signed documents.
